✅ Required Equipment — Boys Lacrosse
New players may want to purchase a starter package — see Dick's Sporting Goods, Lax.com, and other retailer links below.
- Helmet — Must fit properly. WHITE is our preferred color.
- Lacrosse Stick — Short, long, or goalie. See our recommendations below.
- Mouth Piece — Must be a highly visible color.
- Shoulder Pads — Must meet NOCSAE standards including extra padding near the heart area.
- Arm Pads / Arm Guards
- Lacrosse Gloves
- Cleats — Lacrosse cleats are best, football is good, baseball is acceptable. Soccer cleats are OK. No steel cleats.
- Athletic Supporter — Required at all levels of boys lacrosse.
- Rib Pads — Optional but recommended for attackmen.
- Water Bottle — Please put your name on it.
- Bag / Backpack — Optional but highly recommended.
⚠️ Important: Helmets, Shoulder Pads, Arm Pads, and Gloves must be lacrosse-specific equipment for the Spring Season and Tournaments. Some younger teams (U10 and U12) may use hockey equipment with prior head coach approval.
📝 Label your gear — Put your initials on all personal equipment.
🏆 Recommended Lacrosse Sticks
We receive no discounts, referrals, or compensation from any of these brands. We simply recommend what we know works.
#1 Powell Lacrosse Our top pick for heads and complete sticks. Handstrung pockets that are game-ready out of the box. 👉 powelllacrosse.com
#2 StringKing
- StringKing Complete 2 Intermediate — ~$99
- StringKing Complete 2 Senior — ~$149
- For U6 and U8 Players StringKing Complete Junior — ~$69
- Note: the youth sticks will have a shorter overall length (36-39") and may have a thinner shaft for the smaller hands.
- STX Stallion 50 is a good entry level youth stick. We may have to make some slight adjustments with the strings to make it throw better.
⚠️ STX Stallion and Under Armour Next Gen Owners — We strongly recommend having a new pocket put into these sticks. The factory mesh does not hold up well in rain and can frustrate young players quickly. The shaft and head are fine — it is only the standard factory pocket that is the issue. Ask your local lacrosse store to restring with ECD (East Coast Dyes) or StringKing Mesh. Request a mid pocket with little to zero whip.
